We spent three nights in Key West, taking in all of the "vibe" that it has to offer. This ran the gamut from very busy Duvall Street and the Bight marina areas to the calm and quiet of the neighborhood around the Truman Little White House. We rented bikes which allowed us much greater freedom to explore the island. They also had the advantage of being more comfortable than walking in the heat due to the wind we generated while moving. We did not visit the Hemingway house since we had done that a couple of years ago when we were here on a non-boating April break. Instead we enjoyed the freedom that the bikes gave us and checked out things that were further away from downtown Key West than we saw the last time we were here.
For dinner we got take out to eat on the boat. The first and last night we went to the same Cuban food restaurant called The Paradise on Duvall Street. It was excellent and I highly recommend their Ropa Vieja as well as their Mussels in Garlic Sauce. For the second night we had Sushi from Miso Happy Sushi, which was also quite good, but a little different than the more traditional Sushi we usually get from Kame in Beverly.
The marina we stayed at was the Galleon Resort and Marina, which was excellent. As a marina guest we had full access to the resort's bars, pool and private beach as well as comfortable Adirondack chairs from where we could watch the sunset. You can see one of these seating areas in the photos below. Another very nice thing about Galleon is that it is one of the very few marinas with floating docks in Key West, which made it much easier to get on and off Acadia. Docking here did make me REALLY appreciate Acadia's pods and the control they give. The fairway was only about 8-10 feet wider than Acadia is long, and the slip was only about two feet wider than Acadia's beam. But with the control the pods gave I was able to spin Acadia in the fairway and then back into the slip without incident.
This is one of the places where the cruise ships would normally be docked in Key West. This is one benefit of a pandemic, it kept the cruise ships away!
Riding our rental bikes through the Truman Little White House neighborhood.
Brooke Jackie and I having a little fun with a piece of art work that was also a bench. It had a built in whisper pipe.
A few pictures of the Key West sunsets. We never did see the green flash!
